Welcome Expats of Bury St Edmunds

I'm currently sitting in a pub in Bury St Edmunds called the Fox Inn....

I'm honored to have Ruby sitting opposite me, the author of a very successful locality blog called Living in Bury St Edmunds.

Ruby has explained that many Expats from Bury St Edmunds visit her blog to find out what is happening in their "home" town back in the UK. If you are one of these - then welcome to my blog, and thank you for visiting.

A Bury girl myself, I'm soon to board a plane to Thailand in an attempt to kick start my mobile career. While I'm traveling around trying to earn some pennies, I'm also going to be researching the motives and journeys of others who choose to leave England to live and work abroad.

I'd love to hear from you if you've made the leap...

What motivated you to do it?

Where have you moved to?

What do you miss the most about England?

What do you NOT miss about England?

AND are you happy you made the move?

I hope to eventually build up an informative resource for other people who are chipping away at an escape route from England, so that they can make an informed choice of whether or not it is the right move for them.. Do you have any experiences you feel you could offer a potential escapee?!!!!!!!

Thank you again for visiting, and I hope you find some enjoyable reading on this site...

Hi Tina,
If I don't see you and Paul before you go "good luck and have fun".

Tell Paul if the diving tours don't go well there is a niche in the underwater wood welding business...LMAO.

Thanks cashier no.5

I don't know if it's simply because it's only 8.26am or if me and Paul are lacking some brain cells... but what do you mean by LMAO????

Tina, LMAO takes laughing one step further than LOL (laugh out loud) and ROFL (roll on floor laughing). It's "laugh my ass off" !!

Hi Tina,

I am just coming up to my second anniversary of living in dubai, moving from BSE. I moved here relunctantly with my husbands new job. I love it here and don't intend going home for many years. I miss my two sisters and my mum and dad but as we speak my parents are on a flight to stay for the next 6 weeks. I dont miss the weather/tax/bad news/danger of drugs and violence for my two children age 15 and 12.

Let me know if you want to know anything else.

Hi Amanda

Thank you very much for your comment. I'm glad your move has worked out well.

I would love to hear a little bit about how the transition was for your children, and also what an average day is like for you and your family.

If you pop by again and you feel open to providing more insights, please email me, so that I can contact you directly!

Warm wishes

Tina

Hi Tina - good luck!

I left England (with my laptop) in September 2003 and first went to Sydney, Australia for 2 years. Since September 2005 I have been in Thailand - Mae Sot and Chiang Mai for the last year.

I've also set up a similar blog at www.earthoria.com and also set up an organisation called www.bordermedia.org.

I am 'location independent' :-)
